L'ordre des Trinitaires s'implanta à Meaux au XIIIe siècle : il fut chargé, par le comte de Champagne et l'évêque de Meaux, de la gestion du grand hôtel-Dieu qui s'élevait près de la cathédrale. Mais en vertu d'un accord passé le 12 novembre 1520, les Trinitaires cessèrent de s'occuper de cet hôtel-Dieu et se transférèrent un peu plus à l'ouest, dans un nouveau couvent construit pour eux sur la chaussée de Paris. L'édifice fut toutefois victime des guerres de religion, en 1590, et fut reconstruit au XVIIe siècle. Vendu comme bien national en 1791, il fut acheté par Pierre Petit, maître de poste à Meaux, qui y installa un relais de poste. De 1926 à 1974, l'édifice servit de fabrique de pain d'épice. Aujourd'hui, il est divisé en plusieurs propriétés (logements et commerces). Malgré ces réaffectations, on distingue encore clairement le parti d'origine. Toutefois, la nef de la chapelle a été amputée de trois travées et son chevet a été remanié ; l'aile orientale a également été transformée au XIXe siècle.

The order of the Trinitarians was established in Meaux in the 13th century: it was charged, by the Count of Champagne and the Bishop of Meaux, with the management of the large Hôtel-Dieu which stood near the cathedral. But under an agreement made on November 12, 1520, the Trinitarians ceased to take care of this Hôtel-Dieu and moved a little further west, to a new convent built for them on the Chaussée de Paris. The building, however, fell victim to the wars of religion in 1590, and was rebuilt in the 17th century. Sold as national property in 1791, it was purchased by Pierre Petit, postmaster in Meaux, who set up a post office there. From 1926 to 1974, the building served as a gingerbread factory. Today, it is divided into several properties (housing and businesses). Despite these reassignments, the original party can still be clearly distinguished. However, the nave of the chapel was reduced by three bays and its apse was remodeled; the eastern wing was also transformed in the 19th century.
La promenade des Trintaires a été aménagée par la ville de Meaux, de 1859 à 1862, en contrebas de la gare, à l'emplacement d'îlots en bordure de la Marne et d'un pré auparavant utilisé pour la blanchisserie. En 1873-1879, l'allée du bord de l'eau, plantée de peupliers, fut surélevée d'environ 2,25 m pour éviter les inondations. Un escalier en pierre fut construit en 1886 mais il a aujourd'hui disparu, de même que les sculptures qui ornaient la promenade.

The Promenade des Trintaires was developed by the town of Meaux, from 1859 to 1862, below the station, on the site of islets along the Marne and a meadow previously used for laundry. In 1873-1879, the waterfront path, planted with poplars, was raised by approximately 2.25 m to avoid flooding. A stone staircase was built in 1886 but it has now disappeared, as have the sculptures which decorated the promenade.
