SZABADBATTYÁNI KULA-TORONY / KULA-VÁR
Szarból nem lehet várat építeni, szól a mondás és mégis itt áll egy Szabadbattyánban.
Valójában kőből emelték Csíkvár néven (utalva a terület mocsaraiban előforduló csíkhalra) a XIV. században és véres harcokat látott a török hódoltság idején, mert itt volt az egyetlen gázló a Sárvíz folyó által elárasztott lápos területen. Vámszedőhelyből fontos végvárrá vált a Székesfehérvárért folytatott csatákban, ahol magyar és török csapatok váltották egymás. Ezen idő alatt több sérülés érte, valamint vissza és kiépítették. Ekkor alakították át nyilazásra használt középkori lőréseit ágyúzásra alkalmasra és kapott egy ritka vízszintes lőrést is.
Így kapta manapság is használt nevét a török „kule” – azaz torony, őrtorony kifejezésből.
Míg végül 1688-ban a törökök kiűzésével elvesztette jelentőségét. Később magtárrá alakították.
A II: világháborúban bombatalálat érte a gótikus épületet, aminek műemléki helyreállítását 1967-ben kezdték meg.
Mostanában kiállításnak ad otthont, amit májustól októberig, bizonyos napokon előzetes egyeztetés után belépőjeggyel lehet látogatni.

KULA TOWER / FORTIFICATION IN SZABADBATTYÁN
This tower former surrounded be mor fortifications stands here since the XIV. century.
Then built on the only one entry point to Székesfehérvár from west over the marshland flooded be the river Sárvíz (Mud water).
It gained importance as frontier fortress during the Turkish occupation when raids were executed alternatively by Hungarian and Turkish forces depending on who ruled the important town of Székesfehérvár at the time.
During these battles parts were destroyed, rebuilt and extended to accommodate the 50-100 man strong garrison, till pushing the Turks out of the area in October 1687.
During this time the medieval name of Csík tower or Csík fortress changed to Kula Tower or Fortress deriving from the Turkish word „kule” for tower, guard tower.
But with the end of the Turkish occupation the importance of the tower vanished and it was used as a granary.
In the WW 2 the tower got hit by a bomb and reconstruction began in 1967.
Nowadays in hosts historic exhibitions that can only be visited for a fee on certain days of the week from May to October, but only on formerly agreed schedule.

KULA TURM / BURG IN SZABADBATTYÁN
Dieser Befestigung diente als Zollstelle auf den einzig begehbaren Weg Richtung der Stadt Székesfehérvár über dem ausgedehnten Marschland der Gegend gespeist durch den Fluss Sárvíz (Schlamm-wasser) in der Mittelalter. Erbaut in der 14.-ten Jahrhundert mit dem damaligen Namen Csík Burg, abgeleitet von dem Fish „csíkhal“, welcher in den Schlammigen Gewässern der Gegend in großer Zahl vorkam.
Der Burg wurde das erste Mal in 1543 bei der Belagerung von Székesfehérvár zerstört, aber wieder Aufgebaut. Bei der andauernden und abwechselnden Angriffen, je nach dem wer die Oberhand über dem Stadt gehabt hatte gewann es an Bedeutung und wurde mehrmals als Grenzfestung beschädigt und auf, bzw. ausgebaut. Bis es schließlich den vereinten Armeen der ungarischen König und den habsburgischen Verbund in 1688 gelang den Türken aus Szekesfehérvár zu vertreiben.
Nach dieser Zeit verlor es an Bedeutung und wurde als Getreidespeicher genutzt.
Nach einem Bombentreffer in 2. Weltkrieg wurden die museologischen wiedererstellungsarbeiten in 1967 begonnen.
Seit 1970 beherbergt der Turm Ausstellungen, die gegen Entgelt und vorheriger Anmeldung nur, von May bis Oktober an ausgewählten Tagen der Woche besichtigt werden können.
