Jakkukylän riippusilta Virtual Cache

Jakkukylän riippusilta on kevyelle liikenteelle tarkoitettu silta Iin Jakkukylässä. Silta ylittää Iijoen Jakun koulun kohdalta. Silta on jänneväliltään Pohjois-Euroopan pisin kevyelle liikenteelle tarkoitettu metallirakenteinen riippusilta. Sillan rakentaminen käynnistyi marraskuussa 2019 ja se avattiin 21. joulukuuta 2021.

Silta rakennettiin helpottamaan kelirikkoaikaisia Jakun koulun koululaiskuljetuksia. Sulan veden aikana koulukuljetukset Iijoen ylitse hoidettiin ennen siltaa veneellä, ja tämä venereitti oli tiettävästi Suomen viimeinen kouluvenekuljetus. Talvella joen jäädyttyä joen yli kulki jäätie. Jakkukylän riippusiltaa voi lähestyä yhtä hyvin Iijoen pohjois- ja etelärannalta. Pohjoisrannalla on enemmän parkkitilaa, mutta eteläpuolellekin mahtuu hyvin autoja varsinkin kesäaikaan. Parkkipaikat on merkitty reittipisteillä. Talvella tie sillalle aurataan molemmin puolin, mutta varsinkin eteläpuolen parkkipaikoista osa voi jäädä aurauslumien alle. Sillalle pitäisi päästä myös pyörätuolilla ympäri vuoden, mutta talvisaikaan saa varautua siihen, että sillalle johtavat väylät ovat jäässä.

Tehtävä:

• Mene annettuihin koordinaatteihin ja ota kuva gps-laitteestasi, nimikyltistäsi tai jostain muusta omistamastasi geokätköilyyn liittyvästä esineestä siten, että kuvassa näkyy sillan etelä- tai pohjoisrannan siltapilarit sekä käyntipäivämäärä esimerkiksi paperilapulle kirjoitettuna. Kuvanottopiste sijaitsee sillan keskikohdassa eli pisteessä, josta on yhtä pitkä matka sekä pohjois- että etelärannalle. Kuvan voit ottaa hyväksyttävästi joko etelä- tai pohjoisrannan suuntaan. Rannalta tai muualta kuin sillan keskikohdasta otettuja kuvia ei hyväksytä loggaukseen. Tehtäväohjeiden alla näet esimerkkikuvan, joka on otettu sillan keskikohdalta etelärannan suuntaan.

The Jakkukylä suspension bridge is a bridge intended for light traffic located in Jakkukylä, Ii, Finland. The bridge crosses the Iijoki River near the Jakkukylä school. It is the longest metal-structured suspension bridge for light traffic in Northern Europe in terms of span length. Construction of the bridge began in November 2019, and it was opened on December 21, 2021.

The bridge was built to facilitate school transport for Jakkukylä school students during the ice breakup period. During the open water season, school transport across the Iijoki River was previously handled by boat, which was reportedly the last school boat transport in Finland. In winter, when the river froze, an ice road was used to cross the river. During the ice breakup period, instead of the approximately 200-meter boat trip across the river, school transport was carried out via the Raasakka dam bridge by road, extending the journey to approximately 15 kilometers.

Structure of the Bridge:

The bridge is a steel-structured, hot-dip galvanized suspension bridge with vertical steel suspension cables and horizontal guy cables on both sides of the deck. The deck is made of steel, with a walking platform consisting of a steel grating.

The Jakkukylä Bridge can be approached equally well from both the north and south sides of the Iijoki River. There is more parking space on the north shore, but the south side also accommodates cars well, especially during summer. Parking spots are marked with waypoints. In winter, the road to the bridge is plowed on both sides, but some of the southern parking spots may be covered by plowed snow. The bridge should be wheelchair accessible year-round, though during winter, the paths leading to the bridge may be icy.

Task:

• Go to the given coordinates and take a photo of your GPS device, name tag, or another geocaching-related item you own, ensuring that the bridge pylons on either the south or north shore are visible in the picture, along with the visit date written on a piece of paper, for example. The coordinates of the cache point to the middle of a suspension bridge, from which the distance to both the south and north shore is equal. The photo can be acceptably taken from the given coordinates facing either the south or north shore. Photos taken from the shore or anywhere other than the center of the bridge will not be accepted for logging.
