Welcome to Cedar Wood Preserve! Cedar Wood Preserve is one of a few new properties managed by Avalonia Land Conservancy (ALC). The mission of ALC is preserve natural habitats in southeastern Connecticut by acquiring and protecting lands and communicating the value of these irreplaceable resources. If you have searched for caches in any of the very popular series in southeastern Connecticut, you have definitely been to one of the many preserves cared for by Avalonia Land Conservancy.
The purpose of this virtual cache is not only to bring awareness to the mission of ALC, but particularly to Cedar Wood Preserve. This preserve was acquired in 2021 and as of 2023, it has a parking lot that includes fully accessible handicapped parking, a boardwalk for wheelchair access across the water at the beginning of the trail,and in the near future, will have a wheelchair accessible trail continuing from the boardwalk and in the meadow.
