9 Arch Bridge in Ella

...is a viaduct bridge in Sri Lanka and one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country. It is 91 meters long and 24 meters high.

The bridge was designed to accommodate a challenging nine-degree curve and steep gradient. Built entirely by local labor under British supervision, the construction faced significant logistical challenges, including difficult terrain and material transport. Completed in 1919, the bridge has since stood resilient, showcasing innovative engineering solutions such as concrete cornice blocks for arch support and locally produced sand-cement blocks for facing.

...ist eine Viaduktbrücke in Sri Lanka und eines der besten Beispiele für den Eisenbahnbau aus der Kolonialzeit im Land. Es ist 91 Meter lang und 24 Meter hoch.

Die Brücke wurde so konzipiert, dass sie eine anspruchsvolle Neun-Grad-Kurve und ein steiles Gefälle bewältigen kann. Das vollständig von einheimischen Arbeitskräften unter britischer Aufsicht errichtete Bauwerk war mit erheblichen logistischen Herausforderungen konfrontiert, darunter schwieriges Gelände und Materialtransport. Die 1919 fertiggestellte Brücke ist seitdem widerstandsfähig und präsentiert innovative technische Lösungen wie Betongesimsblöcke zur Bogenunterstützung und lokal hergestellte Sandzementblöcke für die Verkleidung.

TASK / AUFGABE

To log this virtual cache as found, you have to take a photo. Go to the GIVEN COORDINATES and take a picture of yourself (your face does not have to be visible) or your personal item WITH THE BRIDGE SO THAT AT LEAST ONE (1) ARCH IS VISIBLE. You do NOT have to go across the railroad to log this cache. Be aware, that the railroad is still in use! I will delete logs without the required photo or with a photo taken from the other end of the bridge.

Gehen Sie zu den ANGEGEBENEN KOORDINATEN und machen Sie ein Foto von sich selbst (Ihr Gesicht muss nicht sichtbar sein) oder Ihrem persönlichen Gegenstand MIT DER BRÜCKE, SO DASS MINDESTENS EIN (1) BOGEN SICHTBAR IST. Sie müssen NICHT über die Eisenbahnstrecke gehen, um diesen Cache zu loggen. Beachten Sie, dass die Eisenbahn noch in Betrieb ist! Ich werde Protokolle ohne das erforderliche Foto oder mit einem Foto vom anderen Ende der Brücke löschen.
