La historia de Alarcón es fascinante, por lo que te invitamos a no quedarte mirando, pasa a la villa y descúbrela (te recomendamos hacer la visita guiada, no te arrepentirás).
UN POCO DE HISTORIA Alarcón está declarada Conjunto Histórico-Artístico desde 1981. La historia de la villa está ligada a la de su castillo y viene determinada por su condición de plaza fortificada, lo que le valdría ser una de las ciudades principales del antiguo Señorío de Villena. Además de su castillo, las torres y algunos elementos de su fortificación también podemos disfrutar de mucho de su patrimonio monumental que ha llegado a nuestros días, 4 de las 6 iglesias que llegó a tener, el ayuntamiento, y algunas casas-palacio. Una de sus iglesias desacralizadas fue cedida por el párroco Don Luis en los años 90 a un artista por entonces emergente, Jesús Mateo, quien durante casi un década estuvo trabajando en sus paredes desnudas en un proyecto de vida. Son las Pinturas Murales de Alarcón, protegidas por la Unesco en 1997 por su alto interés artístico mundial. Un icono del arte contemporáneo en España.
Alarcón también fue el lugar donde se aprobó en 1981 el proyecto de Estatuto de Autonomía de Castilla La Mancha.
ENG , A LITTLE HISTORY Alarcón has been declared a Historic-Artistic Site since 1981. The history of the town is linked to that of its castle and is determined by its status as a fortified town, which made it one of the main cities of the former Lordship of Villena. In addition to its castle, the towers and some elements of its fortification, we can also enjoy much of its heritage that has survived to this day, 4 of the 6 churches it once had, the town hall, and some palace-houses. One of its deconsecrated churches was donated by the parish priest Don Luis in the 1990s to an emerging artist at the time, Jesús Mateo, who spent almost a decade working on its bare walls on a life project. These are the Mural Paintings of Alarcón, protected by UNESCO in 1997 for their high worldwide artistic interest. An icon of contemporary art in Spain. Alarcón was also the place where the draft Statute of Autonomy of Castilla La Mancha was approved in 1981.
