Geocache Description:

St Kilda Pier Pressure & Penguin Peekaboo

Welcome to the revamped new St Kilda Pier, where the ocean breeze meets the hustle and bustle of Melbourne’s favourite beachside playground.

A beloved maritime icon steeped in local history, with stunning bay views and home to Melbourne’s cutest seaside residents—Little Penguins! Experience a panoramic taste of Port Phillip Bay and uncover fascinating Olympic heritage. This iconic spot is the perfect backdrop for a quirky virtual cache adventure!

For years, St Kilda Pier has been a popular gathering place for locals and visitors to stroll, fish, enjoy panoramic sunsets, and maybe spot a fairy penguin or two. After recent upgrades, the pier boasts a sleek new design—while still offering its signature attractions: scenic walks, refreshing sea air, and those lovable little penguins who waddle home at dusk.

Why This Location Is Special:

  • Local Wildlife: Fairy penguins (Little Penguins) call the breakwater home. Observing them in their natural habitat is a rare treat, so please respect wildlife guidelines by keeping a safe distance and minimising noise/light [No Flash]
  • History in the Making: The revamped pier pays homage to St Kilda’s maritime past while adding modern visitor amenities. It’s a fascinating blend of heritage and innovation.
  • Epic Views: From sunset silhouettes to glittering city lights across the bay, St Kilda Pier offers some of the most photogenic panoramas in Melbourne.
