Welcome to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, two of Sabah’s most important wildlife conservation sites.
At Sepilok, you’ll learn about the rehabilitation efforts for orphaned and injured Bornean orangutans, who are gradually prepared for life back in the wild. Across the road, the Sun Bear Centre focuses on rescuing and rehabilitating Bornean sun bears, often victims of the illegal wildlife trade.
This location offers an educational and inspiring experience for visitors of all ages. You’ll get to observe these incredible animals, understand the challenges they face, and see conservation in action.

Because many human diseases could affect orangutans, who share 96% DNA similarities. At SOURC, they request that visitors do not touch the orangutans, especially those visible on the boardwalk.

Look carefully at the orangutans 🐵 and/or sun bears 🐻.
Pick one individual or enclosure that interests you most.
2️⃣📸 Photo Task
Take a photo of the animal or enclosure (not of yourself, unless you wish 😊).
Your photo must show that you visited the centre, for example, an exhibit sign 🪧, feeding platform 🍌, or enclosure 🌿.
Feel free to share as many photos as you like from your memorable trip, they will make a great addition to your log!
