Buddhist white is a color for learning, purity, longevity and knowledge. The White Buddha is Vairocana. Buddhists believe that if you meditate on white, your ignorance will disappear and you will become wise.

There is a Buddhist legend that says that the Buddha’s mother dreams of a white elephant before the Buddha is born.  This is why the white elephant is also a symbol of the Buddha himself.  

In addition, they show the element of water with this color and also show the eyes with white color.

TEMPLE ON THE HILL

The Temple on the Hill in Pai has many names. For the Thai themselves this temple is called the Wat Phra That Mae Yen. But tourists often call this temple the Big White Buddha in Pai or simply The Temple on the Hill. You can see the Big White Buddha from miles away, the Temple on the Hill with the huge white Buddha stands on a mountain east of the village of Pai.

How do I get to White Buddha Pai?

The best way of going to see the Pai Big Buddha is by renting a scooter and riding there yourself. It's only a few kilometres to ride from the town of Pai. But if you're not comfortable riding a scooter you can book a tour instead.
