Geocache Description:

Tower of the Chain
"Πύργος Αλύσεως", "Kusakli Koule" i.e. "Belted Tower", was named after the existence of a stone jewel that surrounds the tower's trunk like a chain. The tower was build by the Ottomans, about the same time as the White Tower(15th century), and around an already existed rectangular shaped Byzantine tower.

The gates of Anna Paleologina

The Empress Anna Paleologina had settled in Thessaloniki and decided to work on the repair and improvement of the city walls as it was the time when Thessaloniki was preparing to fight against the attacks by a rebel general John Kantakouzenos and the Serbs of Stephen Dusan. Their construction dates back to 1355-1356.
