Geocache Description:

I have surfed at Pismo Beach for the last three decades. It has changed in many ways. The surfing and surfers changed like the sandbars that come and go surrounding Pismo Beach. The surf is always best within 200 feet of the north or south side of the pier. I started surfing Pismo Beach when my dad would drop me off on his way to the swap meet on the weekends. I was a part of Pismo Beach surf club from a young age. During my senior year of high school I was called into the principal's office. He asked how I had straight A’s in all my classes with 35 absences to first and second period. Due to being a part of the surf club my absence note read “6am board meeting at Pismo Beach with the chairman of the board.” Somehow my Mom found out due to all the office personnel were frequent customers of their coffee shop. During high school Pismo was the coolest thing to do on Friday nights. You would drive car and cruise through Pomeroy Street and after hang out by the pier. Pismo had everything as a kid. Friday night cruises to car show burnouts. I was a part of the Pismo Beach billiard club that played Tuesday and Thursday nights at hotshots throughout high school and beyond. Super fun place to hang out with your friends and still is in operation at this time.

Pismo Beach is known for the Pismo clam. The clams were over harvested in the 1980s and were pretty much extinct for the area. The clams have made a big improvement in the past three years and the clamming is amazing at this time. The butterfly Groves are as spectacular views from November to February every year. Monarch butterflies to the eucalyptus trees that are on the south side of Pismo beach. Major attractions are Pismo Beach car show that happens every year and also Fourth of July fireworks. Both are a must see.
