Terrazza Panoramica e Fondaci Veneziani RV4.0 Virtual Cache

I fondaci o fondachi erano antiche strutture commerciali che servivano da alloggio e magazzino per mercanti stranieri che arrivavano a Venezia. Ecco alcune informazioni generali sui fondaci:

1. Funzione: I fondaci svolgevano diverse funzioni, inclusa la fornitura di spazi residenziali, depositi per merci, luoghi di incontro e scambio commerciale per mercanti stranieri. Erano solitamente gestiti dalla comunità di mercanti della stessa nazionalità o provenienti dalla stessa area geografica. Erano progettati per soddisfare le esigenze specifiche dei mercanti che li occupavano.

2. Localizzazione: Poiché Venezia era una città mercantile cruciale nel corso dei secoli, molti fondaci erano situati lungo i canali, facilitando l'accesso alle vie navigabili per il trasporto delle merci.

3. Cambiamenti nel tempo: Nel corso del tempo, molti fondaci hanno subito cambiamenti strutturali e di destinazione d'uso. Alcuni sono stati trasformati in edifici residenziali, uffici o strutture commerciali moderne.

4. Ruolo storico: I fondaci hanno svolto un ruolo cruciale nella facilitazione degli scambi commerciali internazionali, contribuendo allo sviluppo delle relazioni economiche e culturali tra diverse comunità. La loro presenza è spesso un riflesso della ricchezza e dell'influenza delle comunità mercantili straniere in una determinata città.

STEP 1:

TERRAZZA PANORAMICA DEL FONDACO DEI TEDESCHI (ingresso gratuito, per orario di apertura dell'edificio consultare il sito )

Il Fondaco dei Tedeschi è ora un centro commerciale di lusso dal 2016, ristrutturato molto bene all'interno a  opera dell’architetto olandese Rem Koolhaas  e ottimamente inserito nel contesto ambientale. La ciliegina sulla torta è la possibilità ( esclusivamente su prenotazione on line) di accedere gratuitamente alla terrazza dell'edificio. La vista da lì è splendida e toglie il fiato sia  in lungo che in largo ed è forse la più bella vista panoramica di Venezia ( pubblica e  gratuita ). Si possono vedere le cupole della Basilica di San Marco, il Ponte di Rialto che è proprio ai vostri piedi, il Canal Grande che scorre attraversando la città e i tanti campanili che svettano da ogni lato. La durata della visita è solo 15 minuti, ma sono assolutamente sufficienti. Salendo all'ultimo piano e mostrando la prenotazione vi sarà data la possibilità di accedere senza grosse attese . Mi raccomando di essere puntuali.  Ci sono anche dei bagni gratuiti, che essendo una rarità a Venezia , servono sempre.

• La prenotazione della visita è obbligatoria e va effettuata esclusivamente online.
• La visita ha una durata massima di 15 minuti.
• La prenotazione elettronica è controllata all’ingresso e non è garantito l'accesso fuori dall’orario indicato.
• L'orario riportato nella prenotazione deve essere rispettato. Non garantiscono l'accesso in caso di ritardo.
• Senza prenotazione online non è possibile accedere.
• In caso di maltempo e per ragioni di sicurezza, il gestore si riserva di chiudere la terrazza senza alcun preavviso.

Alcune curiosità sul Fondaco dei Tedeschi

Se da una parte ci sono i negozi e la terrazza panoramica, dall’altra, all’interno e all’esterno del Fondaco, ci sono alcuni piccoli dettagli che passano spesso inosservati. Costruito nel 1508, per decenni l’edificio ha ospitato mercanti provenienti da mezza europa. Molti di loro hanno lasciato un segno del loro passaggio. Se salite al primo piano, infatti, sui marmi delle balconate che si affacciano sul cortile interno potrete notare simboli, disegni e monogrammi incisi sulla pietra. Ne sono stati contati oltre duecento e alcuni rappresentano antiche corporazioni non più esistenti. Fateci caso.

STEP 2:

LE FACCIATE DEL FONDACO DEI PERSIANI E DEL FONDACO DEI TEDESCHI  

Ti trovi davanti alle facciate del fondaco dei Tedeschi e del fondaco dei Persiani (ggi palazzo Ruzzini), individua i due palazzi ( il fondaco dei Persiani è a sinistra nella foto) e scatta una foto che testimoni la tua presenza.

STEP 3:

LA FACCIATA DEL FONDACO DEI TURCHI 

1. Origini: Il Fondaco dei Turchi fu costruito nel XIII secolo per accogliere i mercanti turchi che visitavano Venezia per scopi commerciali. In quel periodo, Venezia era una potenza marittima e commerciale di grande importanza, e i fondaci fornivano un luogo dove i mercanti stranieri potevano soggiornare e gestire i loro affari.

2. Architettura: La struttura attuale del Fondaco dei Turchi risale principalmente al XVI secolo, quando fu ricostruita in stile rinascimentale. L'edificio presenta una facciata caratterizzata da finestre ogivali e balconi decorati. Durante i secoli, ha subito diverse ristrutturazioni e modifiche.

3. Utilizzo: Nel corso degli anni, la funzione del Fondaco dei Turchi è cambiata. Dopo essere stato utilizzato come magazzino e residenza per i mercanti turchi, ha successivamente ospitato un ospedale e, in epoche più recenti, è stato utilizzato per scopi diversi.  Attualmente, il Fondaco dei Turchi è sede del Museo di Storia Naturale di Venezia. Il museo ospita collezioni di storia naturale, tra cui reperti geologici, zoologici e paleontologici.

Requisiti per loggare la cache: scatta tre foto

CACHE PURPOSE: GO UP TO THE PANORAMIC TERRACE of FONDACO DEI TEDESCHI and TAKE A PHOTO PHOTOGRAPHING THE THREE NATIONAL FOUNDATIONS (GERMAN, PERSIAN, TURKISH) STILL PRESENT IN VENICE

STEP 1:
PANORAMIC TERRACE /ROOFTOP TERRACE OF THE FONDACO DEI TEDESCHI (free entry, for opening hours of the building consult the website)

The Fondaco dei Tedeschi has now been a luxury shopping center since 2016, very well renovated inside by the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and excellently inserted into the environmental context. The icing on the cake is the possibility (exclusively by online booking) of free access to the building's terrace. The view from there is splendid and takes your breath away both far and wide and is perhaps the most beautiful panoramic view of Venice (public and free). You can see the domes of St. Mark's Basilica, the Rialto Bridge which is right at your feet, the Grand Canal which flows through the city and the many bell towers which stand out on all sides. The duration of the visit is only 15 minutes, but they are absolutely sufficient. By going up to the top floor and showing your reservation you will be given the opportunity to access without long waits. I recommend you be punctual. There are also free bathrooms, which being a rarity in Venice, are always needed.

Some curiosities about the Fondaco dei Tedeschi
If on one side there are the shops and the panoramic terrace, on the other, inside and outside the Fondaco, there are some small details that often go unnoticed. Built in 1508, for decades the building hosted merchants from half of Europe. Many of them have left a mark of their passage. In fact, if you go up to the first floor, on the marble balconies overlooking the internal courtyard you will be able to notice symbols, drawings and monograms engraved on the stone. Over two hundred have been counted and some represent ancient corporations that no longer exist. Pay attention to it.

You are in front of the facades of the Fondaco dei Tedeschi and the Fondaco dei Persiani (now Palazzo Ruzzini), identify the two buildings (the Fondaco dei Persiani is on the left in the photo) and take a photo that testifies to your presence.

STEP 3:
THE FACADE OF THE FONDACO DEI TURCHI
Origins: The Fondaco dei Turchi was built in the 13th century to accommodate Turkish merchants who visited Venice for commercial purposes. At that time, Venice was a maritime and commercial power of great importance, and the fondaci provided a place where foreign merchants could stay and manage their affairs.

Architecture: The current structure of the Fondaco dei Turchi dates back mainly to the 16th century, when it was rebuilt in Renaissance style. The building has a facade characterized by ogival windows and decorated balconies. Over the centuries, it has undergone several renovations and modifications.

Use: Over the years, the function of the Fondaco dei Turchi has changed. After being used as a warehouse and residence for Turkish merchants, it subsequently housed a hospital and, in more recent times, has been used for different purposes. Currently, the Fondaco dei Turchi is home to the Natural History Museum of Venice. The museum houses natural history collections, including geological, zoological and paleontological exhibits.

  Requirements to log the cache: Take three photos

Photo 1. Take a photo with you on the panoramic terrace, with any glimpse of the view visible or you can take a photo of a glimpse with a piece of paper on which you have written the date and your nickname; if you are unable to book the terrace in time you can take a photo of a monogram on the internal balcony of the building with a piece of paper on which you have written the date and your nickname (see fig.1)

Photo 2.  Take a photo of yourself and in the background the facades of the Fondaco dei Tedeschi and the Fondaco dei Parsiani (fig. 2) or take a photo with your nickname and date and in the background the facades of the Fondaco dei Tedeschi and the Fondaco dei Parsians;

Photo 3. Look for the symbol of the fish and the bird on the building of the warehouse of the Turks. Take a photo with you pointing at it or take a photo with your nickname, date and symbol.
