Biblioteksruinen
Biblioteksruinen vid Hovdala slott är en av Skånes märkligaste byggnader. Ingen vet egentligen så mycket om den förutom att byggnationen påbörjades av Mikael Ehrenborg på Hovdala Slott någon gång under mitten av 1700-talet.
Den åttakantiga byggnaden skulle fungera både som bibliotek och eremitage och står i mitten av ett invecklat system av låga murar som bildar stjärnmönster och gyllene snitt, vilka numera tyvärr döljs av skogen. Byggnaden hann aldrig färdigställas innan hans död så vad vi ser idag är resterna av en idé snarare än en fullbordad byggnad.
Biblioteksruinen ligger vackert inne i skogen bakom Hovdala slott. Det går en körbar grusväg fram till ruinen och väl på plats finns en informationsskylt. Det finns en utsiktplats med picknickbord i närheten av området.

The library ruins at Hovdala Castle is one of Skåne's strangest buildings. Nobody really knows much about it except that construction was started by Mikael Ehrenborg at Hovdala Castle sometime in the middle of the 18th century. The octagonal building would serve as both a library and a hermitage and stands at the center of an intricate system of low walls forming star patterns and golden sections, which are now unfortunately hidden by the forest. The building he never completed before his death so what we see today are the remains of an idea rather than a completed building. The library ruin is beautifully located in the forest behind Hovdala Castle. There is a drivable dirt road leading up to the ruin and once in place there is an information sign. There is a lookout point with picnic tables near the area.
Logging requirements
- Get to the location!
- Take a picture of yourself with all or part of the Library Ruin visible in the background.
- Picture of yourself (no requirement) or something personal (for example GPS or your geocaching name)
- Add the image when logging in to geocaching.com.
- Logs that do not meet the requirement will be removed!
