Let's meet for a hike and some geo-chat!
When: Saturday, March 16th @ 1pm to 1:30pm
Where: Lewis & Clark State Park SouthTrail
Why: For the fourth year, the North Dakota Park & Recreation Department (NDPRD) has issued a statewide “12 Months – 12 Hikes” challenge.
To participate, just pick and hike a qualifying trail in one of the 14 participating state parks and recreation areas. You can complete your hikes all in one park or explore any of 14 locations across the state. NEW THIS YEAR - the challenge is going mobile! There will be a fresh hiking challenge every season (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall) of 2024 through the new North Dakota State Park mobile app. Make it your goal to hike at least three trails each season.
The North Dakota Geocaching Association (NDGCA) would like to help everyone complete their hiking challenge and climb the leaderboard. To do this, we will be hosting an event in a different state park each month, so we can get together with other geocachers and hike.
What: We will meet and chat a little before hiking the South Trail system, leaving to hike by 1:30pm, a hike that is about 2.5 to 3 miles long with stunning views of the lake and a surprise tunnel. I'll have a small snack and water following the hike, plus a couple giveaway items.
Reminders: A daily pass ($7) or annual ND state park pass ($35) is required to enter. Dress for the weather/trails - boots and layers!
