We are continuing our exploration of London's Hidden Gems into 2024, this time with an evening meet and greet event overlooking the bustling platforms of Liverpool Street Station. That's not a hidden gem, though, it's just trains? No... there is more to this location than just trainspotting, although that in of itself is an interesting activity, in my opinion. No, this event takes place in Exchange Square, one of London's newly introduced green spaces. This whole area was recently re-opened at the tail end of 2023 I'm told and I wouldn't have known of its existence had it not been for geocaching. Time to share this with the community.
Blending nature with the energy of London, Exchange Square is set to become a year-round destination which will host everything from communal picnics with food from our local retailers to morning yoga in the sunshine. As spring approaches, the park will become a haven for workers looking to enjoy outdoor space on their lunch breaks or for the local community to learn more about plants and biodiversity. The park’s range of planting is maintained by Exchange Square’s Head Gardener and is expected to be a popular choice for workers looking to make the most of premium outdoor space. While this is not the first entry in the London's Hidden Gems event series, you do not need to have attended the previous ones to attend this one. That would be silly! Guide to get to the GZ
This event IS at the published coordinates, but be careful about how you get to the GZ. Please, please, please do NOT simply wander in from within the station in a rush asking yourself how to get to us. Looking at the map, you'd be forgiven for thinking this event takes place inside the station. It does NOT. Instead, there are multiple ways to access Exchange Square from the surrounding streets. I've detailed what I consider to be the main two as trailhead/waypoints within the cache listing, including the step-free/wheelchair accessible access point. Please use the waypoints!
