In keeping with the Geocaching HQ's suggestion of hiding caches that are book-themed during January of 2024, I decided to title this cache "Black Beauty." You'll see why when you get there.
I wonder if little girls still read books about horses and dream of them the way I did as a child. This one, published in 1877 by Anna Sewell, tells the story from the perspective of the horse, who was treated very differently by his various owners. It was not particularly easy to read for a child, but it did help me to develop a passion for the ethical treatment of animals. And when my parents gave in and eventually got me a horse, I took good care of it.
