Geocache Description:

16 March 2024, 17:15 - 18:00

Hi fellow Geocachers!  Let's have a quick meet n greet here in Apache Junction and then afterwards lets welcome the return of the "Cougar chasing it's prey" shadow on the Superstition Mountains. During the event is a good time to meet fellow Geocaching enthusiasts and discuss all the fun and joy of our sport.  Then afterwards, stick around and see this event that happens here twice a year.

This will be my first event that I host and I can't think of a better one than this event. I've never seen this shadow either so I am excited to see this myself.

For those who don't know of this event and/or new in town, I've included a little snipit I found:  The “Cougar's Shadow” will return to the western face of Superstition Mountains in Arizona. The best times to view the shawdow of the Cougar Chasing its Prey appear during the third weeks of March and September during both spring and fall equinoxes These are the two times of the year when day and night are of approximately equal length. This amazing phenomenon is visible across Apache Junction just before sunset. The actual sighting depends upon the weather and viewing location, but along Superstition Blvd is usually a great place to see it.

March 16, 2024 sunset is scheduled at 6:36 PM and the best time to view this is about 30 mins before sunset. Bring your own chairs, jackets, and of course your cameras.

I tried and pick a good spot for viewing and parking.
