Geocache Description:


This collection of caches has nothing to do with the Church Micro series in the UK. Given that the Australian 2021 census indicates that No Religion and Jedi Knight are still the fastest increasing classifications of the optional religion question "What is the person's religion?" it is not surprising that there is surfeit of empty churches that have been repurposed.

Flinders Park Methodist Church
Brick church, stretcher bond, with gabled corrugated galvanised iron roof with tall vents to ridge. Awning windows to side elevations and large feature window with cross to gable elevation. Brick addition to rear.
Four foundation stones:
'To the Glory of God this stone was laid by Mrs A J Perry, Oct 9th, 1926'
'To the Glory of God this stone was laid by Mrs F S Williams, Oct 9th, 1926'
'To the Glory of God this stone was laid by Mrs G E Toogood, Oct 9th, 1926'
'To the Glory of God this stone was laid by Mrs W H Figg, Oct 9th, 1926'
Foundation stone to hall at rear laid 6 November 1954

Church converted to Uniting in 1977.  Church closed and sold in 2004.  Currently used by the Buddhist Institute since 2008.  To find the final location you need to check which Buddhist Institute is occupying the building.
