PEACE POLES

A peace pole is a monument that displays the message "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in the language of the country where it has been placed, and usually 3 to 13 additional translations. The message often is referred to as a peace prayer. The idea of peace poles was first thought up in 1955. Since then, more than 200,000 have been placed around the world in close to 200 countries.

Every year on the first Saturday in May thousands of people around the globe participate in World Labyrinth Day as a moving meditation for world peace and celebration of the labyrinth experience.

LABYRINTHS

A labyrinth is used for walking meditation. It is a single winding path from the outer edge in a spiraled way to the center. Labyrinths are used world-wide as a way to quiet the mind, calm anxieties, recover balance in life, enhance creativity and encourage meditation, insight, self-reflection and stress reduction.  The labyrinth located here is set in a very beautiful garden.

The difference between labyrinths and mazes is that labyrinths have a single continuous path which leads to the center, and as long as you keep going forward, you will get there eventually. Mazes have multiple paths which branch off with dead ends that will not necessarily lead to the center.

It is our hope that you experience a measure of peace as you make your way in this world!
