Faithful Partner (GCJJKZ) was my first cache placement in 2004. I was an eager student, ready to tackle the world, and I used geocaching as a way to entertain my overworked brain. I graduated and moved away from NorCal soon after the cache was placed, but a good friend of mine took care of the cache until it went missing a few too many times. The cache was archived in 2007 with 64 successful finders, some of whom are still active geocachers in the area today. The tables have turned 20 years later and now I help teach those young, eager students!
This is a two-part multicache, centered around a distinguished monument on the UC Davis campus. Parking can be tricky, but it is free on campus on the weekends and university holidays. At the above coordinates, you will find the monument. Use the monument to answer the questions below, which will lead you to the cache site within easy walking distance. Please be respectful of the monument (no kids climbing on it, etc.) and stealthy at the final. Beware of things that come along with having a faithful partner! The final coordinates are N 38º32.ABC W 121º45.DEF, where:
A = Aret, second digit of the month
B = Rooster, last digit of the year
C = Vem, first digit of the day
D = Liberty, third digit of the year
E = Number of letters in the first word of the name of the monument
F = Stryker, first digit of the day
The GPS was a bit bouncy in this location, but the hint will help narrow down the search area.
