The cache is not at the pin. That is where the old station building still is but it is now in a builders yard so there is no access.
About SideTracked Caches
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website
Portobello station was opened in 1846, on the North British Railway. It replaced an earlier station that was on the Edinburgh and Dalkeith Railway. It was closed in 1964, but in the intervening years it was served by a variety of trains heading into and out of Waverley to Berwick, Musselborough, Carlisle, Dalkeith and beyond. Holidaymakers from Glasgow came by train to enjoy the seaside and the fair at Scotland's premier seaside resort.
DuckHamster and I love a good train journey. I don't normally keep my tickets, especially as they are so often electronic now. Not long ago a friend showed me some tickets they had kept. They’ve obviously been to a lot of places in the UK, I didn't ask why. Some of these journeys seemed a little strange, but I think for my friend it was the journey between the two stations that was important.
