The Brookside Coal Mine Company Store
Located in Spring Creek Park, this was once a thriving coal mine. From 1896 to 1922 the mine produced 1.5 million tons of coal. The remains (mostly stone foundations) of many of the structures are still visible. The town of Brookside built and maintains Spring Creek Park.
There are well-maintained trails throughout the park, and the cache is located close to one of the trails. The hike to the cache is short but steep. Please make sure the container is hidden well when you finish. Please do not climb on or disturb any of the structures. Also revegetation is in progress on the lower sections so please stay on the trail until you get near the cache.
The company store (pictured) still stands on the corner of Brookside Avenue and Colarelli Avenue. (See the waypoint). It is now a private residence. If you look closely you can still see the lettering on the side of the building.
I had a hard time getting accurate coordinates, but the hint will narrow it down considerably.
