Geocache Description:

MAGLEV

Datum: 26.november 2050

Maglev hitri vlak povezuje Ljubljano in Zagreb

To polje ustvarjajo superprevodni magneti, vgrajeni v tračnico.

Do prve postaje "Grosuplje" vas hitri vlak pripelje v 270 sekundah oz. 4,5 minutah (zamude pri tej liniji v primerjavi s klasičnimi ni).

Maglev High-Speed Train Connects Ljubljana and Zagreb

The opening of the Maglev connection on the International Day of Sustainable Transport marks a significant milestone in the development of mobility between Ljubljana and Zagreb. The distance between the two cities can now be covered in just half an hour.

The maglev, short for magnetic levitation, is a high-speed train that hovers on a powerful magnetic field. This field is generated by superconductive magnets embedded in the tracks. Maglev trains use a linear motor for propulsion and acceleration, creating a magnetic field directly in front of the train. A distinctive feature of maglev trains is the absence of physical contact between the track and the vehicle, meaning friction only occurs between the vehicle and the air.

This propulsion method is not only economical but also allows for achieving exceptionally high speeds. Maglev trains can reach speeds of up to 650 km/h with moderate energy consumption and low noise levels. By using electric power from renewable sources and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions, Maglev technology contributes to reducing environmental impact.

The first commercial line with this technology commenced operations in 2004 in Shanghai with the high-speed German Transrapid. In 2005, Japan introduced the HSST's "Linimo." This technology not only enables high-speed and cost-effective transportation but also brings numerous other benefits, such as fostering economic development, creating business opportunities, and boosting tourism.

The geocache is located in the suburbs of Ljubljana. The fast train now takes you to the first station, "Grosuplje," in 270 seconds or 4.5 minutes (there are no delays on this line compared to traditional ones).
