Geocache Description:

Dinas Station was built in 1877 to transfer dressed slate from the Moel Tryfan, Fron and Cilgwyn quarries to the LNWR line to Caernarfon. A passenger service ran until 26th September 1936, in 1951 British Rail closed their part of the station but the through line remained open to 1964 when the Carnarvon to Afon Wen line closed.

With the restoration of the Welsh Highland Railway the station reopened 11th October 1997. Two buildings survive from the North Wales Narrow Gauge Railways era, namely the former goods shed and the original station building which has been carefully restored. Dinas station yards house the Welsh Highland Railway offices, carriage sheds and locomotive depot as well as extensive civil engineering works and sidings.

A cache placed to celebrate Leap Day 2024.

Another custom made container.
