Catsear (Hypochaeris radicata) has flowers similar to those of the dandelion (an alternative name is false dandelion), but its leaves form a rosette that stays close to the ground and the stems are forked and solid. Like the dandelion, the seeds form as clocks and are dispersed by wind. The plant is edible but the leaves can be bland, and excess catsear consumption has been linked to stringhalt in horses.
