Geocache Description:

Japanese Valentine: Honmei-Choco (本命チョコ, lit. "true feeling chocolate")

While living in Japan it was interesting to see how our western holidays were celebrated or changed through cultural translation. While teaching English classes Sasamichicken and I learned that the Japanese have two versions of Valentines day celebrated on two different days. The first is very similar to ours and happens on Febuary 14th. The main difference is that it falls upon women to give gifts of chocolate to the men in their lives. If a Japanese woman has a romantic partner or is interested in a man they would give them Honmei-Choco. If they are feeling particullarly generous they can also give co workers, classmates and friends giri-choko (義理チョコ), from 'giri' ("obligation") and 'choko', ("chocolate"). These gifts would be similar to the pre boxed valentines we would give to classmates in grade school.

There is a small stamp and pad in container. They are not swag.
