Geocache Description:

Incense hidden in the neighborhoods

When it comes to the people from Chaoshan, it is known that they are fond of worshipping gods.

Some people think that the people from Chaoshan are very superstitious and traditional, but this is a misunderstanding of Chaoshan. Compared to Westerners who believe in God and Jesus, people from Chaoshan believe in deities. While Westerners go to church, people from Chaoshan worship "LaoYe" (老爷). There are numerous deities to worship. People from Chaoshan deeply understand the art of creating deities, creating whatever is needed, and each deity has its own role in blessing the smoothness of life for the people from Chaoshan.

In Chaoshan, any folk festival is related to worship. Different festivals have different objects and forms of worship. In the eyes of the people from Chaoshan, the objects of worship are only ancestors and "LaoYe" - "LaoYe" is the general term for all gods.
