Event Description
1. When: Saturday, March 8th, 2025 - 8:30 a.m. through 9:00 a.m. at the FM Event Site.
2. The Turoa Village Flash Mob will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will last until 9:00 a.m.
3. A group photo will be taken at 8:55 a.m. at the FM Event Site.
4. At 9:00 a.m. we will clean up the site and head back to our cars or perhaps those interested can join the group heading up to find the highest geocache at the Tahurangi Summit on the North Island.

After the FM - Getting to the Tahurangi Summit
Proceed cautiously on this 9.0-km out-and-back trail near Ohakune, Manawatū-Whanganui. Generally considered a highly challenging route, it should only be attempted by experienced adventurers. This trail is great for hiking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are November through April. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail.
This track takes you to the summit of Tahurangi via the Turoa Ski Area located in Tongariro National Park. The track is clear until you reach the last cafe on the slope. From here, you make your own way up to the last chair lift station and on the ridge to the summit. It's recommended to hike this track in summer because of the snow at high altitudes. It's a challenging climb suitable for experienced and well-equipped trampers only - prepare for the steep rocky sections, no shade along the way and even snow at the summit. You will be rewarded with great views of Crater Lake. This area is very popular for skiing and snowboarding in winter - on a clear day, it's possible to climb to the top and ski back. A carpark is located at the trailhead.
