The original New Beckenham station must have been one of the most short-lived stations that ever existed in the UK. It opened on 1st April 1864.The station sat immediately south of a junction formed by diverging lines to Addiscombe and Beckenham (Junction). By 1867 the station had been replaced by a new set of platforms about 250-yards to the north. (The site of the current New Beckenham station). Presumably, it was soon realised that having a station before the junction offered the flexibility of joining and dividing trains for the alternate routes.
When I first started caching I enjoyed finding Sludgebucket's SideTracked caches. Sadly he is no longer with us so I thought I'd resurrect some of the hides.
