To celebrate Geocaching Village Hall Week
18th – 24th March 2024
Although there is not a cache associated with this village hall it has attracted a lot of media attention lately as a result of the television series "Mr Bates v The Post Office." (The hall used in the TV series in in Kent.) But, it is this village hall where between 30 and 40 ex sub-postmasters and mistresses met for the first time one Sunday in 2009 - a gathering that led to the creation of the Justice for Sub-postmasters Alliance (JFSA) campaign group. Which in turn is now popularly referred to as the Horizon/Post Office scandal. If you want to find out more about Fenny Compton Village Hall and its role in history you can go to their website and look at their "blog" Fenny Compton Village Hall (fcvh.org.uk)
ABOUT THE MEETING. We are a couple of cachers from Kent, visiting nearby. We usually hold a Village Hall Week meeting in our local hall. But thought, as we are here, we would hold a short meet. There is wheelchair access up the slope. Parking is limited and on street, so please think of the residents. It doesn't matter if you have found 1 cache or many 1000's please come along and say hello, talk geocaching, swap TB's etc Finally, no meeting is complete without tea and nibbles so we will be bringing some along!
