A failure as a business and only lasted !9 months but is still remembered after 150 years. The "Pony" as people at the time called it had 47 stations in Nevada, the most of any state. The trail runs just South of here from the Carson Station across the street fron the state capitol building to the next station in Dayton. Many of the stations in Nevada have disapeared but some of the station sites can be easily visited.
The Pony Express would have become a footnote in western history had it not been for "The Buffalo Bill Wild West Show". The show lasted nearly 3 decades and traveled all over the world. Every show started with the Pony Express riding in.
