Fact! Built in the early 12th century, it was the residence of the warden of the Forest of Dean – a royal hunting ground where the game was protected and the king alone allowed to hunt.
Where I have marked is a little green in front of the church with a bench. I plan to be on the bench!
Although the event is based around the castle to attend will not cost you any entry fee as it is not in the castle itself.
