Geocache Description:

This cache is placed as part of GeoMuster Logan 2024.  Each cache in this series is named by an Idiom, which relates in some way to the cache hide or the cache itself.  An idiom is a group of words that have a particular meaning that is not easily identifiable by looking at the individual words.  We hope you enjoy the experience.

Latin: cum grano salis - "with a grain of salt".  The phrase is thought to come from Pliny the Elder's Naturalis Historia, regarding the discovery of a recipe written by the Pontic king Mithridates to make someone immune to poison.  One of the ingredients in the recipe was a grain of salt.  Threats involving poison were thus to be taken "with a grain of salt", and therefore less seriously.

So, You have to take everything I say with a grain of salt.  Or maybe with a pinch of salt.

Ever heard of Ken Wilber?  Me neither.  Wikipedia says he is an American theorist and writer on transpersonal psychology (yeah, I had to look that one up, too!).  Anyway, I like this quote of his: "I'm not nearly the saint some of my fans imagine and I'm nowhere near the devil my detractors wish, so you simply take both of those with a grain of salt."

And I once read a geocaching discussion about who has the most geocaches found.  One reply was "You have to take geocaching statistics with a  grain of salt. Besides the fact there are unscrupulous cachers that flat out cheat, there's also the wide variety of thoughts on what constitutes a find. Some won't find anything so then throw down a container and log find. Some find a piece of Velcro or a container top and call it a find. With no clear definition and all the diverse thinking, there can never be reliable statistics."

What do you think?
