Burdiehouse Burn Valley Park
Burdiehouse Burn Valley Park is a peaceful (mostly) green corridor following the Burdihouse Burn as it winds its way from Old Burdiehouse Road to Gilmerton Road. It is a rich habitat for wildlife with woodpeckers, herons, deer and even otters known to visit. Some of the paths at the southern end of the park (especially those in Moredun Woods) can be VERY muddy. I would like to thank the Friends of BBVP for help with both information on the history and for some of the ideas for the caches.
At one time there were at least three mills within a mile along the burn. Sadly very little remains visible today. Some older maps show the car park being home to two - one being fed from the Stenhouse Burn and one from this mill lade - it is not clear if both mills were operational at the same time.
