Geocache Description:

This is my local community garden - it's been slowly growing over the years, from a couple of garden beds built for the kindergarten, to a full community garden with orchard, and since my last cache here, a covered picnic table area. The park can be quite busy with muggles walking home after school, otherwise it's usually quite quiet. No need to disturb any plants while searching.

This area was the Emmett farm from the 1870s to the 1940s, and supplied the areas of Shirley, Richmond, St Albans and Fendalton with milk, which was delivered in the early morning after the 4am milking. Customers would leave billies out on their porches and the person delivering the milk would fill them using a ladle. When Arthur retired in the late 1940s he sold off his farm, half of it becoming this state housing block. The lower lying land less suitable for housing was turned into this park, named after the then Labour MP for Christchurch.
