The Location:
Kempsey is a town in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia and is the council seat for Kempsey Shire. It is located roughly 16.5 kilometres inland from the coast of the Pacific Ocean, on the Macleay Valley Way near where the Pacific Highway and the North Coast railway line cross the Macleay River. It is roughly 430 kilometres north of Sydney.
Kempsey has a number of heritage-listed sites, including the Kempsey Post Office, the Macleay River railway bridge and St Andrew's Presbyterian Church and Hall.
Geographically, Kempsey stretches out around a long loop of the Macleay River at the top of the floodplain. It is famous for its floods. The 1949 flood was particularly destructive, having washed away a large part of the town centre when the railway viaduct (which was acting as a dam-wall due to a build-up of debris against the approaches to the railway bridge) gave way.[citation needed] The area most affected by this flood is now the site of playing fields. The shire council has a policy of buying up land in areas designated as flood plains and many houses have been transported to higher ground in recent years. Other major floods occurred in 1949, 1950, 1963, 2001, 2009, 2013, 2021, late February to March 2022.
Kempsey is well endowed with educational facilities, having six primary schools and six secondary schools.
Many notable people have roots to Kempsey, such as singer Slim Dusty, novelist Thomas Keneally and footballer Greg Inglis. There are a series of geocaches with NRL themes (See "NRL 2015 FINAL EIGHT #2" GC8YNZA.
Of the many geocaching series, the MONOPOLY series is quite popular (See GC6439A).
Technical details:
This Kaffee Kache is an interactive mystery geocache. It requires a smartphone. It is a unique way of stringing together virtual and physical waypoints. Thus, it is part virtual cache, part multicache, part puzzle cache, and part adventure lab. What more could one want?
A Kaffee Kache does not require any specific hardware or software - just internet access and a browser. There is no need to download any Cartridge or App.
A Kaffee Kache also has a Teamwork attribute. Because an Intercache works live across web-based activities, having a friend or two could save you the intricacies of internet drop-out or phone freeze should such happen in low-signal areas.
This Kaffe Kache also has another web-based component: What3Words. You can work What3Words directly from the website www.what3words.com OR....
There is also an App for both Android and iPhone. If you would like to use the What3Words App, then use THIS LINK.
Please realise: what3words has given every 3 metre square in the world a simple address made of 3 words that can be easily integrated into products, platforms and apps.
Documentation on using the Intercache platform is downloadable HERE.
Important documentation on using What3words (Browser OR App) is downloadable HERE.
