Huge retaining walls loom along the north side of the winding river in this section. The winding watercourse results in constantly changing sightlines and enhances the tree-lined and mostly shaded walk along the blueway.

The natural meanders of a winding river can act as a buffer during flooding events, as the floodwaters spread out and slow down, reducing erosion and damage downstream.

The longer edge of a winding river compared to a straight one increases the interface between land and water, but most importantly it raises the question: what lies around the corner?
