Young Love Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ScmBirch: The container broke. I left geocaching for a while and now, coming back, I decided to archive this cache as opposed to repairing it.

Geocache Description:

The cache should have a pencil in it, but I cannot promise it will be in a serviceable condition, so I advise still bringing a writing implement with you.

Whilst walking through quaint Freedlander Park, I happened upon some carvings made into the wood plank of a bridge.

The first carving was decently typical, "inital + inital followed by a heart," you can stumble upon these types of carvings in pretty much any park you visit; it is simply a passion fueled expression of love made to show the two parties' forever kinship.

but it seems that the symbolism of this carving did not hold true, one of the parties whom carved their inital into the wood came back and carved yet another message intended not only to the world, but to their beloved, "THANKS for ALL ThE Pain."

I find my mind drifting back every now and again to this scene frozen inside of a piece of wood; I just can't help but wonder who these people were, and what led to these two expressions of heartfelt emotion. In the end I will most certainly never know. Truly, I know nothing of the people behind these carvings. I titled this cache as "young love," but even then I do not know if they were actually young. In the end all we are left with is the emotions that they left behind.

While the cache itself is not all that related to the carvings and the context behind them, it did inspire the location, which caused me to write all of this.

The park the cache is located in is decently small, so you might end up having to wait for people to disperse before you can find the cache. Keep an eye out.
