RO: Orașul Galați a trecut prin multe etape, care au determinat evoluția centrului istoric al acestuia. De la prima atestare documentară din 1445 până în prezent, orașul este incendiat de trei ori, trece prin două războaie mondiale, dar își păstrează o mare parte din simboluri. Punctul de maximă dezvoltare a fost reprezentat de perioada interbelică, atunci când atât din punct de vedere arhitectural, cât și industrial, orașul era unul dintre cele mai moderne din România. Toți acești ani au influențat centrul orașului de astăzi, care se întinde de-a lungul străzii Domnești, de la malul Dunării, până la Parcul Carol I. Pentru a observa mai bine punctele de reper ale orașului, a fost amplasată în decembrie 2023 o machetă realizată din bronz și oțel. Aceasta cuprinde şi o legendă cu 40 de obiective principale, menţionate în limbile română şi engleză, precum şi în limbajul Braille.
