Geocache Description:

These toilets are accessed directly off the footpath of Baker St in South Dunedin. They have the appearance of been there many years but it was only a couple of years ago that I noticed that a sign indicating their presence was put up at the intersection with Hillside Rd. Bathgate park is mainly a large grassy sports ground but at the northern end along Hillside Rd there is a playground and some seating.  Along Baker Street you will find clubrooms that belongs to a sporting club that plays on this field. The white concrete block toilet rooms are on the south end of this complex.

Facing the toilets from the footpath you will see that the men's are on the left and the women's are on the right. There is a white metal grill gate associated with each entrance way. Winter opening hours are posted between the two entry ways, but no summer hours are posted. They are open through out the year with longer opening hours during daylight saving time.

I only entered the women's facilities. The concrete floor is pained a brick red colour, the walls the same as outside. The first thing you see as you enter is the handbasin which is a stand alone stainless steel structure attached to the wall with a white drain pipe running into the floor. Above is the liquid soap dispenser and it appears as though you then shake your hands to dry them. No mirror is provided. To the right is the entrance to the one unit. The loo itself is stainless steel with black plastic or some other material along both sides to raise the bare flesh off the cold stainless steel of the loo basin. No lid is provided. The white plastic cistern is attached to the wall behind. There is a stainless steel button to press to activate the flush. No choice for a half flush. The unit door has a light weight stainless steel sliding bolt that is activated by turning the reactangular knob. tucked into the corner is a sanitary disposal unit. Only one large toilet roll is provided, indicating that use is relatively light.

Overall the toilets were clean and tidy.

500ml screw tp container against concrete. You are quite exposed to muggles so the quickest way to wrestle it out of its hiding spot is to use one hand to push against the base of the flax bushjust below it and the other to extract it. Replace the same way, making sure that it is in the same spot as I don't want it sliding lower where it will become more visible to muggles.
