An area of open space visible from 5 & 76.

I've always been curious about this structure. It was formerly used to connect traffic to Hill Street (once US 101; now Coast Highway). With the completion of the interchange with the SR 76 expressway/bypass of Oceanside in 1995, the ramp was closed to traffic but not demolished. I don't see any signs that say you can't just pull off west bound 76 and park in the ample dirt area but that's your choice. Personally, I walked in with my dog on the SLRRT from it's starting (or depending on your perspective, ending point) near Neptune & Cleveland (see trailhead way point).
The ramp itself is marked off "NO TRESPASSING" but I took a short stroll with my dog this one time. Feels eerie to walk down a "freeway" even knowing it is completely blocked off. The roar from next door I5 makes me want to duck for cover.
