Welcome to the Tour de San Ignacio, a series of traditional geocaches in the form of "log only" pill containers. This cache series will take tourists and locals alike to some of the more popular sights in the Cayo area. Hopefully, you will enjoy one or more of these caches and in doing so, get a great overview of the town and surrounding area. Cache on, padewan!
Branch Mouth
Branch Mouth is the meeting place of the Mopan River, coming from Guatemala, and the Macal River, flowing down from Mountain Pine Ridge. The confluence of these rivers forms the beginning of the Belize River, which flows northeast to the sea. It's a cool spot for a swim on a hot day. A cable swing bridge connects to the opposite bank. To get there, cycle or walk 1.5 miles north of town past Midas Resort. This is a popular spot for locals to come swimming when it is hot out. For the more adventurous, one can jump off the bridge into the river... it's plenty deep.
The cache is hidden in a quiet little spot which is a little tricky to get to for the last couple of steps, hence, the increased terrain rating. I will have to wait till next year's rainy season to see if the increase in river height will affect the cache. But for now, it's good.
Congratulations to lutzenland and otti20 for their co-FTF!
