This cache celebrates π (PI) ... that amazing mathematical number that allows us to make important calculations for circles, ellipses, and spheres. π is a mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. π is an important number in thermodynamics, mechanics, electromagnetism, fractals, and cosmology.
π is an irrational number because it is not equal to the ratio of any two whole numbers. Its digits do not repeat, and as of 2022, π had been calculated to 62.8 trillion decimal places. For practicality, π is often shortened to an approximation of 3.14 and many mathematicians and enthusiasts celebrate March 14th (3-14) as Pi Day.
