Conosciuta anche come Fonte Fredda, l’Acqua Marcia (viene così chiamata per via delle sue proprietà solforose che ne determinano il forte odore) risulta più fredda rispetto alle altre principali fonti di Acqui: la temperatura della fonte Bollente è di 74,5 °C, quella del Lago delle sorgenti di 45°C, mentre l’Acqua marcia arriva a 19 °C. Il suo percorso di risalita verso la superficie è molto più lungo, probabilmente attraverso faglie tortuose e non verticali come nel caso della Bollente. Ciò nonostante il suo viaggio verso la superficie non comporta la miscelazione con acque fredde. Il suo raffreddamento è solo conduttivo e dovuto ai tempi di risalita elevati. Soltanto nel 2009, dalle analisi di laboratorio effettuate, si è evidenziato che grazie al suo elevato contenuto di solfuri, ha un grande potere antiossidante e viene pertanto usata per cure inalatorie e dermatologiche. L'acqua di questa fonte è potabile e così come per la Bollente, molti acquesi sono soliti berne un bicchiere al giorno.
La fonte dell'Acqua Marcia si trova in zona Bagni, l'area oltre il fiume Bormida, dove si sono insediate le terme nel XVI secolo, quando i Gonzaga fecero realizzare i primi stabilimenti per sfruttare le sorgenti.
È solo nel 1847 che viene costruito il tempietto che, sorretto da quattro colonne e sormontato da un timpano triangolare con un piccolo arco, custodisce la fonte a due rubinetti dell’Acqua Marcia. L'architettura neoclassica, realizzata a metà Ottocento, sembra un chiaro omaggio alla tradizione romana della città. Si ritiene che l'autore del progetto sia l'ingegnere Lorenzo Gianone.

Also known as "Cold Source", the "Acqua Marcia" (literally "Rotten Water", is so called because of its sulphurous properties which determine its strong smell) is colder than the other main sources of Acqui: the temperature of the Bollente source is 74.5 °C , that of the Lago delle Sorgenti of 45°C, while the Acqua Marcia reaches 19°C. Its ascent path towards the surface is much longer, probably through tortuous and non-vertical faults as in the case of Bollente. Nonetheless, its journey to the surface does not involve mixing with cold waters. Its cooling is only conductive and due to the high rise times. Only in 2009, from laboratory analyzes carried out, it was highlighted that thanks to its high sulphide content, it has great antioxidant power and is therefore used for inhalation and dermatological treatments. The water from this source is drinkable and as with the Bollente, many Acqui residents usually drink a glass of it a day.
The source of the Acqua Marcia is located in the Bagni area,
the area beyond the Bormida river, where the spa was established in the 16th century,
when the Gonzaga family built the first establishments to exploit the springs.
It was only in 1847 that the small temple was built which,
supported by four columns and surmounted by a triangular tympanum with a small arch,
houses the two-tap source of the Acqua Marcia. The neoclassical architecture,
built in the mid-nineteenth century, seems to be a clear homage to the Roman tradition of the city.
It is believed that the author of the project is the engineer Lorenzo Gianone.
