This cache is placed on the convergence of 3 North Texas county lines. Grayson, Denton, and Collin counties all meet at this intersection.
Collin County is named after Collin McKinney, one of the earliest settlers and a signer of the Declaration of Independence from Mexico.
Grayson County is named after Peter Wagener Grayson, an attorney general of the Republic of Texas.
Denton County is named after John B. Denton, a pioneer preacher and lawyer who had been killed in an Indian fight in 1841.
All three of these counties were once part of historical Fannin county until 1846, when Texas became independent from Mexico and a law dividing counties into more feasible areas was enacted. Fannin County was named for James Fannin, who commanded the group of Texans killed in the Goliad Massacre during the Texas Revolution.
