Trotting Park was the area between Cedar Street and Ringe Avenue and what is today's Harvey Street. In the 1830s there was a horse race track looping between these streets, with a Hotel on Cedar Streed of which the building still stands and a grandstand adjacent to it. One of the owners of the track was a Samuel Reed after which an adjacent street is named. After the heyday of the trotting races the area was surveyed to be subdivided into 275 lots for residential homes which you are now standing in the middle of.
