SideTracked - Newcastle Central

Following on from my attempt in the last leap year to host a SideTracked event in every month of the year.... we know how that ended, 3 months in and it all went very wrong

today - i am up from the midlands on an expedition - this one is a bit more personal than the others.  in late 2021 just before christmas my grandad passed away fairly quickly.  He had been a north east lad all his life and pre covid - i met him here several times on my way to and from Edinburgh when away with work

format was always the same, ring him on his home phone as i left Berwick so he could get the Metro in from Tyne Dock and as the station was often busy, meet at George.

so this is a meet in tribute, a meeting at George

before i jump on the metro myself for a quick trip down to look at the old place and then come back again

Wood coins for this year - 2024, i've had made up with the Metro logo on - i know there is new trains now, but i always remember the yellow and white ones of old..... and the yellow tickets
