Bayview Airport, now named the Skagit Regional Airport, opened in 1933 with just one runway. In 1943, the U. S. Navy took over the site to use as an alternate to the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station during World War I I. The federal government operated the airport after the war, then transferred it to Skagit County in 1958. Today this area serves mostly smaller planes for general aviation.
There are many wonderful public trails throughout the property, and this cache is located alongside one of them.
