The original version of this cache was placed for the Ballarat Geotour, February 2021 to 2024. It was archived as per Geocaching policy for all Geotour caches at the completion of the term. This is the re-created version, with a new cache container and logbook. Previous finders will still need to sign the logbook again before claiming a find.

BACKGROUND
The Ballarat Avenue of Honour consists of 3,801 trees that are dedicated to the 3,744 local men and 57 nurses who volunteered for service during WW1.
The trees were planted between 1917 and 1919, over a distance of 22 kilometres commencing at the Arch of Victory in Ballarat.
Every tree has a plaque, originally made of gunmetal, that records their name and unit number.
In 1993, The Avenue was split into two sections when the Ballarat Bypass road was made.
After much lobbying, The Avenue was reconnected when the overpass was built as part of the Western Highway duplication project.

You will need to gain some information from each of four different locations, all within a short walking distance of each other. The total distance involved in this multi is under 500 metres.
