Geocache Description:

You are not looking for buffalo. You are looking for Bison.

Hope this helps you to find:

Kine is a plural group noun, i.e. a bunch of cows: kine. FTF is not reserved for porcine.

Bison and cattle are related, but they are not the same species although they can interbreed.

Bison and yak are different species but can also interbreed (males, sterile, females not)

Bison and buffalo cannot interbreed

Bison are not related to musk oxen who are more related to goats.

The gaur also known as the Indian bison but they are not bison (and bigger than bison)

With the advent of DNA testing, the number of herds that are known to contain cattle genes has increased. Though approximately 500,000 bison exist on private ranches and in public herds, perhaps only 15,000 to 25,000 of these bison are pure and are not actually bison-cattle hybrids.

The word buffalo is derived from the French “bœuf,” a name given to bison when French fur trappers working in the US in the early 1600s saw the animals. The word bœuf came from what the French knew as true buffalo, animals living in Africa and Asia.

Strangely four-horned and spiral-horned antelopes are also Bovines

That should give you enough information to tell bison from imposters (we will not mention aurochs or Bison Latifrons (weighed 4500 lbs)

Warning do not try to mate with a bison, they are know to be rather onery and aggressive.

Lastly, Hannibal crossed the Alps with elephants but none of the off-spring survived.

Good Luck. Approach cautiously
